There are shops for general grocery items at Kooringal, Bulwer and Tangalooma.
There are no banks on Moreton Island.
The Bulwer Store does have EFTPOS facilities with the Cash Out option. There is a minimum purchase of $15.
There is also an ATM located at the Tangalooma Resort
Very Limited: standard telstra phone reception in some areas, next g coverage in most areas. There is a public phone located at Kooringal.
There is no longer any fuel available on Moreton Island. If you are bringing your 4WD over you will need to bring fuel with you. You can buy fuel at Kooringal and limited amounts from the MiCat barge. Bulwer General Store sells unleaded fuel in 20 L drums only. Contact Bulwer General Store prior to commencing your trip to ensure supplies are available.
Bulwer Store offers gas bottle exchange for 9 kg only.
Small quantities of firewood can be bought on Moreton at Bulwer but it is best to bring your own from the mainland
Ambulance/Police/Fire - For all emergencies call 000 If no mobile reception try 112
There is a full time ambulance on the island and first aid.
There are Volunteer Fire Stations based in each township and also SES(State Emergency Services).
Public Toilets are available at all established Campgrounds.
There is also a public toilet located at the northern end of Bulwer near the heli-pad
Treat all water collected on the island before drinking. Water is available at:
Big Sandhills on the western beach
Rous Battery on the eastern beach
the road to North Point beach
all established Campgrounds.
Moorings for public use are available in front of Cowan Cowan otherwise their is somewhat protected anchorage in between Tangalooma Wrecks and Beach.
