There are shops for general grocery items at Kooringal, Bulwer and Tangalooma.

Money Facilities

There are no banks on Moreton Island.

Mobile Phone Reception

Limited: standard telstra phone reception in most beach areas, coverage in most beach areas. The phone reception comes from Woorim on Bribie Island so the closer you are to Bribie or if you can see it, the better. There is also a mobile repeater at Tangalooma giving better reception. There is a public phone located at Kooringal.

Fuel

There is no longer a fuel station on Moreton Island. If you are bringing your 4WD over you will need to bring fuel with you. Bulwer Store Castaways sells fuel in drums only.

LPG Gas

Bulwer Store Castaways offers gas bottle exchange.

Firewood

You can not burn the native timber. Bring your own or purchase on Moreton at Bulwer Store Castaways

Emergencies

Ambulance/Police/Fire - For all emergencies call 000 If no mobile reception try 112
There is a full time ambulance on the island and first aid.
There are Volunteer Fire Stations based in each township and also SES(State Emergency Services). On the Eastern beach there are Yellow signs every 2 kms to give emergency services your approximate location.

Toilets

Public Toilets are available at all established Campgrounds.
There is also a public toilet located at the northern end of Bulwer near the heli-pad on the beach.

Water

It is best to treat all water collected on the island before drinking. Water is available at:
Big Sandhills on the western beach
Rous Battery on the eastern beach
the road to North Point beach
all established Campgrounds.

Boating Moorings

Moorings for public use are available in front of Tangalooma otherwise their is somewhat protected anchorage in between Tangalooma Wrecks and the Beach. Beware of Westerly winds as lots of boats are washed ashore and sunk when the wind changes to a westerly, with no protection.
